4.2 Archival backups

Archival backups should always be preformed to two external drives attached to your computer or on a network drive that you control. Archives may be in a “native”  or proprietary format. They should be taken at a regular interval weekly and monthly and  and kept for the duration of  interval such as keep weekly for four weeks and monthly for three months when they become quarterly which are kept indefinitely. Archive drives should be rotated monthly with the current one taken off site at rotations end. The frequency you use for rotation depends on your tolerance policy for loss in case of a disaster.
